Save time and take out the guess work of starting Sugarcane. These Sugarcane Ratoons have roots and are ready to plant. This Hawaiian Cane is a Crystal Cane which have a high sucrose content for increased formation of sugar or sucrose crystals when juices are heated and evaporated. A welcomed addition to any herb garden, a natural privacy screen & wind break that resembles Bamboo. Makes an unusal houseplant when put in a bright sunny location and watered at least 3 times a week. No sunny location inside? Potted cane can be grown with the assistance of a 40-watt grow light. When planted outdoors it can reach a height from 4 to 12 feet and may take up to 18 months for a stalk to fully mature. A single row of sugarcane can serve as a windbreak or barrier planting that gives you tasty chewing canes all at the same time. When grown in tropical to sub-tropical climate they will multiply quickly. The number of canes will approximately double each preceding growing season as well as becoming thicker each year. Regularly remove dead leaves and weeds from the soil or the growth of the cane stalk can be stunted. Sugarcane also makes a suitable container plant, with the advantage of moving it in if you live in an area where frosts may occur. Mature Sugarcane is harvested by cutting level with the soil. This allows the original roots to regrow at least 2 - 3 more times before new ratoons are required.
