Description

Carob is a tropical pod comes from the brown pod of the carob tree. Carob pods contains a sweet, edible pulp and inedible seeds. After drying, the pulp is roasted and ground into a powder that resembles cocoa powder. It is claimed that the flesh of carob pods tastes similar to sweetened cocoa, and because it does not contain caffeine, the obromine or other psychoactive substances, it is promoted as a hypoallergenic substitute. It is highly nutritious in vitamins and minerals, and is great to include in elderly nutrition snacks. Carob Powder is a food ingredient used as an ideal cocoa substitute and sugar replacer with a flavor and color similar to cocoa. Carob has no caffeine and almost no fat. In 1942 a group of like-minded people gathered on a farm in Western New York and founded the Shiloh Community. Their common goal was to live and work together in health and harmony. To help support themselves and sustain their lifestyle they created a bakery and became known for their hearty, healthy all-natural products. Organic certification had not yet been invented. This was the beginning of SHILOH FARMS.
