Description

The Mitutoyo Series 7200 Dial Depth Gauges, Indicator Type, Inch, have a measurement range of 0 to 8", a stroke (or travel distance of the indicator) of either 0.2" or 1", a resolution (or smallest graduation interval) of 0.001", with + or 0.002" of accuracy. The dial gauge interface provides precise and easily readable measurements. Models 7237 and 7238 have a back plunger type dial indicator to enable upward facing readings. The units all contain four extension measuring rods for flexibility in range. The bases of the units are either 2.5" or 4" long, depending on the model. The bottom of the bases are hardened, ground, and lapped for durability and accuracy. The ball point used for measuring is carbide-tipped for durability and accuracy. Depth gauges are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering.

Depth gauges are precision measuring instruments used to determine the depth of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. These gauges often take the form of sliders that travel on a measuring beam or rods, are moved to position by hand, and then adjusted with a calibrated screw. The base of the gauge rests at the top of the shape whose recession is to be measured, while the beam or rods extend to the bottom of therecessionto determine the measurement. Gauge position is read from a graduated scale, dial, counters, or an electronic display.

Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and related systems. The company, founded in Tokyo in 1934, formed Mitutoyo America Corporation in 1963 with headquarters in Aurora, IL.
