USING THE HEIRLOOM ORGANICS COMPLETE MICROGREENS KIT
Making the Nutrient Solution
Add 1/4 tsp. of each nutrient (Azomite and Kelp Extract) to 1 quart of water. Store in a cool, dark place.
Setting up your MicroGreens Tray
When you are ready to start a MicroGreens Tray, take out the nutrient solution and measure out 1/4 cup.
Put the GrowMat in the bottom of the tray and pour in the solution. Add clean, purified water until just below the top of the GrowMat. If you go above the top the seeds may float and move.
Planting your MicroGreens Tray
Once you have prepared the tray with growing medium, nutrients and water it's time to distribute the seeds. Spread your seeds about 1/8 inch apart across the whole tray. No need to cover them with soil since you are using a clear dome-top. Just make sure they are put in a relatively dark place until the germinate (sprout).
Germinating (Sprouting) your MicroGreens Once your seeds are distributed place the clear dome-top on your tray.
Place your tray in a warm, dark place. (optimum 75-85F, no warmer). Don't place in light until the tray is sprouted.
Managing your MicroGreens Tray
Keep checking your tray every day for signs of germination (sprouting seeds). Once you see mostly green remove the clear dome-top. If you don't remove the dome-top there is danger of slight mold growing. This is easily fixed by spraying with a mild vinegar-water solution. Once your tray is mostly germinated move to a windowsill or grow light to "green out".
Harvesting your MicroGreens
The best time to harvest microgreens is when they've developed their first set of true leaves (the first ones are seed leaves, and don't look anything like the actual leaves of the plant), which is generally about ten days to two weeks after planting. To harvest, simply snip the microgreens just above soil level.
