Description

Performance Plus string winders are used to speed up the process of changing strings for Electric, Steel String Acoustic Guitar, Nylon String Classical Guitar, 12 String Guitars, Banjo, Mandolin, Ukulele, Dulcimer and other instruments with guitar style tuners. The PW1 can assist in both removing and replacing instrument strings on your instrument. Instructions: To use a Performance Plus String Winder slip the socket end of the winder (with built in pin pry tool used for acoustic guitars with bridge pins) over the tuning button of your machine head. Rotate the swivel handle in the direction needed to tighten or loosen the string. The Performance Plus PW1 String Winder will allow you to take up the majority of the string slack - once it gets fairly tight, remove it and finish fine tuning by using your fingers to tighten the tuning button until the string is in tune. Important Tips: After tuning each string, check the pitch again as the strings will stretch a bit and will require minor adjusting. Caution: Most strings break when tuning because the strings bind in the v-shaped slot in the top nut. Often the string appears to stop tuning, so you continue to turn the winder and eventually the string breaks. This happens because the string wedges into the nut and you are tightening only a few inches instead of the whole string. A very simple solution to prevent this problem so the string slides freely in nut; rub the slots in the nut (nut is near the headstock) with a soft #2 black pencil. The graphite in the pencil will help prevent the string from getting stuck in the nut grooves, as the graphite in the pencil lubricates the string and allows the string to move freely. Keep plenty Performance Plus PW1 String Peg Winders around, in your bag, case, or tool kit. Available colors: Red, Blue, Black or "can't loose me because I'm so bright" yellow. Note: Fits most standard tuning machine buttons. Not for large machine head buttons (like bass guitars).
