What's a heat shield?

The rooftop of your camper or RV can reach temperatures of over 140 degrees F in the heat of summer. Flexible solar panels will begin to take heat damage at these temperatures, a common cause of early failure. This panel is supplied with a plastic spacer sheet made from twin-wall polypropylene. This backsheets helps protect the panel from high heat. The heat spacer is optional but recommended for metal rooftops on RV's and campers.

How do I use this solar panel?

This panel must be used with a solar charge controller in order to recharge stand-alone lead-acid or lithium batteries. Alternately, this solar panel can be used to charge all-in-one "solar generators" with the appropriate MC4 adapter cable. We can help you select the right products to get your system working! You can use more than one panel together. The MC4 connectors that come with these panels are designed to connect the panels in series. Alternately, you can use MC4 branch connectors to wire the panel in parallel for 12 Volt systems.

How is this panel different from others?

Our new 50 Watt flex panel uses SunPower's high efficiency solar cells with an anti-reflective collection surface. These panels can be installed along curved surfaces up to 30 degrees. The textured collection surface captures reflected light off the panel, packing even more power into the 23% efficient SunPower solar cells. This tough clear coating is also scratch resistant, unlike traditional flexible solar technologies. These ETFE laminated panels are supplied with industry-standard MC4 connectors for a locking dust proof, water resistant seal (IP 67 rated). They can be fastened seamlessly to almost any surface with their brass mounting grommets.
