The original crown is ancient and is known as the 'Crown of the Holy Roman Empire' and 'The Crown of Charlemagne'. It is believed to have been made at the monastery of Reichenau for the Coronation of Emperor Otto I in 962.
The original is made of eight plates joined together, four of which depict enamelled figures of King Solomon, Kings David and Hezekiah, and the Prophet Isaiah. The remaining four plates are heavily set with large precious stones.
The replica is Gold Toned Lead Free Pewter with Swarovski Elements.
